Garmin unveiled its Fenix 9 smartwatch line, doubling the brightness of its flagship rugged display and adding features aimed at serious workout tracking. Fenix 9's base model starts at $999.99 for the 43mm case, featuring an OLED screen that reaches 3,000 nits. It's twice as bright as its predecessor and includes 50 percent more RAM and an upgraded map engine for faster panning, according to The Verge.
It adds 64GB of storage, a scratch-resistant sapphire lens, and Garmin Epic—a feature that groups workouts over days or weeks to create performance summaries. New stamina tracking metrics and expanded rucking features, which let users adjust pack weight mid-workout, round out the software additions as battery life stretches to 29 days in smartwatch mode on the largest 51mm case.
Fenix 9 Pro starts at $1,099.99 with a titanium case. Its 51mm model features a 1.5-inch OLED display, the first in the Pro line. Satellite or LTE connectivity costs $100 plus $7.99 monthly. Solar charging is available on both 47mm and 51mm models, extending battery life to 57 days with three hours of daily outdoor exposure.
Orders start August 28th.
